Unfortunately, those ebay knock offs from china dont have the same components like the boosted GPU and such. Pretty much information technology's only a keyboard. Researched a lot and only way to go a fully functional one with all its office is to purchase a used surface volume for $450. Extremely disappointed they don't sell just a keyboard for it. I bought mine for well-nigh $1,400 and after 14 months the keyboard just stopped working. I know things pause and aught is 100% BUT not to offer a replacement part for a keyboard is ridiculous. I bought some for my business and regret it. Now im fearful my other iii surface laptops I bought for my business volition take their keyboards fail and render them mostly useless. I could purchase another bluetooth keyboard to put on height of the keyboard lol but that's just tacky and not an image I want to prove to the public. I volition non be buying microsoft laptops for my business any longer. A friend of mine that has a large plastic surgery clinic will also non invest in more than of the surface book laptops because ane of the surface volume keyboard also became unresponsive. Unless they begin selling replacement keyboards do not buy the surface book. Buy the other microsoft tablets if you must that tin can accept the keyboard replaced but they wont accept the power of the Book. So, what to do? I'll just buy from another company.

I'd like to know about this as well; I accept a gen 1 Book from work with a faulty keyboard that we'd similar to replace.
It still works, except if plugged into power, in which case I get cascading USB not recognized error letters...
It'southward pretty disappointing that MS would not supply replacement parts for their products I take to say.

Bluntly, it'southward utterly ridiculous.
The Surface range is positioned as a premium production. I'thousand at present being told that their is no servicing or repair available, my but selection is to supersede the whole machine at a cost of nearly £600 because the keyboard (a completely separate module) is broken.
I shall never buy a Surface production once more. As a long term Microsoft customer, who spends a lot both personally and professionally, this is a major own goal past the company. Extremely poor.
